“My daughter was so happy to find an angel on our way to school. We sure will pop down over the Christmas period. Thank you.”
Have you seen or been given one of our little angels? If so, we hope you are blessed with this special gift and we pray that it may hang on your tree this year as a reminder of the true meaning of Christmas.
Angels played an important part in the Christmas story. They brought messages of love, joy, peace and hope to the world as they talked to various people and got so excited about the birth of the special baby that they filled the skies with wonderful music. That special baby, Jesus, was to grow into an amazing man who would change the lives of every person who came into contact with him. God’s gift to us, Jesus, was surely the best gift ever.
The battle for the best TV Christmas advert has begun, and I wonder which advert is your favourite? At the end of one of the John Lewis advert it said that ‘Some gifts are more than just a gift’ and at New Life Church we couldn’t agree more! We believe that among all the gifts, glitter and tinsel some gifts are so much better than others and that’s why, throughout December, we are going to be looking at the theme, ‘The Hope of Christmas’. (See details below).
After the best gift of all, Jesus, we think that there are some other gifts that are indeed more than just a gift, and that’s why we will be looking at the gifts of love, joy, peace and hope – things that are truly more than just a gift, they are, in fact, life changing. Christmas is all about God giving us the best gift, Jesus, because he loves each one of us so much, and through that one gift comes love, joy, peace and hope.
We might not, like little Elton, get given a piano for Christmas, but God certainly wants to give us love; a love that guards our hearts and keeps us safe. God wants to give us joy; a joy that lasts beyond Christmas day and the one year guarantee that comes with most toys. God wants to give us a joy that will last. He also wants to give us peace; a peace that we cannot get anywhere else, and a peace that keeps us safe. Finally, God wants to give us hope; a hope for now, and a hope for the future.
So come and join us this December and share in all the gifts that God has got for you.
We would love to hear how your angel has blessed or encouraged you. Please tell us your story by either emailing us at office@newlifeworthing.com or telephoning the Church Office on 01903 262313, as we would love to add people’s stories to this web page.
